What is Zolyx?

Zolyx is a Qix-style game released in 1987 by Firebird for the Commodore 64, Spectrum and Amstrad CPC. Your goal is to fill a target percentage of the screen by drawing lines to section parts off. Draw an enclosed area to fill it (as long as it's empty), but watch out for the evil enemies - if they hit a line you're in the middle of drawing then it's curtains for you!

Press any key to continue past the "cracktro", then use the numeric keypad (with NUM lock turned on) to play. Hit fire (numpad 0) to start, and use 8, 2, 4 and 6 to move up, down, left and right respectively. Pressing fire in-game will reverse the direction of all enemies on the screen, but you can only use this once per level.

Thanks to Joakim Eriksson for making this page possible with JaC64, a Java Commodore 64 emulator. Enjoy!

You must have Java installed to see the game. You may also need a fairly meaty processor to play it smoothly - it stutters noticeably on my dual core 1.6Ghz laptop... but your mileage may vary.

If nothing happens within a few seconds of this page loading, try refreshing the page - and if the numpad controls don't seem to work then click the emulator applet to give it focus.
