Originally known as Project Q when it was first brought into the public domain some months ago, Nifflas today released Saira [link], his latest complete game and his first venture into shareware. And a fine piece of work it is, too!

After my recent verbal wranglings regarding Cave Story for the Wii, a few people seemed to have the impression that I was beating Mr. Nygren up – this most certainly wasn’t what I intended to convey. In any case, as a big fan of his, I’d like to offer my congratulations. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all of the game I’ve played through so far; it has all the trademark features you’ve come to expect but with several marked differences and additions when compared to its most obvious cousins, the Knytt games. It’s absolutely worth playing – expect to be completely absorbed! Try the demo and tell me it isn’t so… ;)

Saira - adventuring in a chilly snowscape

To celebrate the occasion and spread some early holiday cheer, I’m giving you the chance to win a free copy of Saira! For details of how you could start exploring the full world of Nifflas’ newest creation, keep reading after the break…

[A winner has been picked and the contest is over. Thanks for your comments!]

All you have to do is simply add a comment in reply to this post, making sure you use a valid email address. One lucky winner will be randomly picked from a virtual hat some time on the evening of Friday the 18th (some time around 7pm GMT). The prize – a registration code to unlock the full game – will wing its way to them through email shortly after.

I wish you good luck and happy adventuring! :-D

Oh, just one thing to keep in mind – don’t be alarmed into double-posting if your comment doesn’t appear immediately. All comments are moderated and I’ll approve them as regularly as I can, but I’ll be going to sleep in a couple of hours so there could be delays. :)

Dang, I wanted to write here back at Sunday, but something evil happened and made me feel no more like writing anything :|.
Anyway, I wanted to say the Saira looks promising. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of Nifflas’ productions (Within a Deep Forest most I think) and it is nice a new game has appeared. I will most likely play the demo some other time this week and if I happen to like it I am going to buy it (unless, of course, by some weird change in the universe flows I will get it by some other means *winks*)

This brings me to two question though – one being, do you happen to have any information regarding the Night Game? I’ve been itching to play it for some time already but is it even released? And can it be played on PC?
And the second thought is, have you recently played Stick Rangers? It has been pretty much very expanded since the first time you wrote about it here and I’ve been playing it from time to time, keeping track on changes and I have to say it gets better and better (well, maybe except the gunner, he is just too expensive to pay off).

I’ve very much enjoyed Nifflas’s previous games and the demo for Saira is just brilliant! At the moment it looks like I have a 50/50 chance, so it’s quite possible I’ll get the free copy, but otherwise I’ll be buying this for sure.

Just heard about this game…I love gorgeousindiegames(TM) and will probably buy this if I don’t win it.

I’ve played Knytt Stories quite a bit and loved it. Haven’t had time to try the Saira demo yet, though I’m looking forward to it.
